Bernard Orlick is one of the main characters of the Prime Video series Citadel. A technical genius working for Citadel, Bernard is portrayed by actor Stanley Tucci.
Official Biography[]
Bernard is a genius. And he’ll let you know it. A tech wizard and top spy, Bernard has been key to Citadel’s exploits for thirty years. He is overtly inventive, wise, and witty, but he also protects his people with tenacity. Orlick’s inventions have been instrumental in everything from the rise of the internet to the creation of Backstop, making him the all-knowing brains behind Citadel operations.

The Human Enigma[]
Bernard feeds information to Nadia Sinh, a Citadel agent, who is on a mission to intercept a bag containing highly enriched uranium. Nadia tells Bernard she has her target in sight. Bernard gets cut off on the line and later finds out that Nadia, amongst almost all Citadel agents, were targeted and killed by an agency called Manticore.
Bernard continues to act alone, as best as he can. In Chicago, he has captured three Manticore agents and demands to know what Dahlia Archer is up to. When one of them cracks, he finds out she is looking for Citadel's X Case with the nuclear codes inside. He shoots the agents. Then, eight years after the train accident that supposedly killed Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane, Bernard gets an alert that Mason Kane is still alive.
However, Mason is going by the name Kyle Conroy. Bernard goes to Mason's house and points a gun at him and his family to get into his car. He takes them to a safe place and explains to "Kyle" his real identity and what Citadel is. He asks Mason for his help to come to New York to get the Citadel X Case back.
Spies Appear In Night Time[]
Bernard takes Mason on a mission to New York City to get the X Case. At a Manticore lab, Bernard gives Mason basic instructions and tells him to go into a building. He directs him on what to do until Mason gets the X Case and runs back into Bernard's car. They speed away - however, they are being followed by Davik Silje.
Davik shoots at their car. They crash and Bernard gets shot. Davik later finds Bernard unconscious in the car after Mason gets away. Bernard is taken to Dahlia's home in Virginia after his wounds are treated with the intention of being interrogated for information.
Infinite Shadows[]
Dahlia threatens to torture Bernard if he doesn't turn over information. She tells him about the Citadel technology they stole before the rest was destroyed. She asks him for a nineteen digit password to access the system and he relents, saying the password is “why don’t you f*** off!”. She threatens the lives of Bernard’s ex-wife and daughter, which scares him.
Dahlia calls a doctor out who opens a suitcase of torture devices. He pulls two of Bernard’s teeth. She threatens to take his memories by cutting into his brainstem with a new device Anders created. Anders started but Bernard tells Anders that Brielle, the woman he loved, is still alive and that Citadel lied to him. Anders demands Bernard prove it and he asks for his phone. Bernard shows Anders a photo of Brielle alive- but it’s a photo of Abby. They’re the same person. Bernard offers to bring him to her and tell him everything in exchange for his life.
Tell Her Everything[]
In a flashback to ten years earlier, Mason asks Bernard to help intiate Backstop on Celeste Graham, whom he believes to be a mole. Bernard questions Mason asking if he is absolutely certain she is a mole. He confesses that he once accused someone of being a mole but later believed himself to be wrong and he's regretted it ever since.
Time Renders Us Enemies[]
Bernard convinces Anders to let him go so they can find Brielle. Anders cuts his restraints but Dahlia finds them and shoots Anders. Bernard tells Dahlia that Thomas would be disappointed to see what kind of a person she is today. Dahlia threatens Bernard's family and asks him to give the nuclear codes to save them. Bernard relents and gives them to her, assuming his family would be safe, but Dahlia gives the order to kill them anyway explaining to Bernard that it's an "eye for an eye" for what he did to her.
Secrets in Night Need Early Rains[]
In a flashback to London eight years before, Bernard and Mason walk along the river. Bernard hands Mason photos of Nadia with a baby and tells him that she’s his daughter. Bernard hands him a plane ticket to Valencia and encourages him to go see them.

Bernard is short and skinny. He is bald with dark brown stubble. He has honey brown eyes.
Personality[]
Bernard is a funny man who is easy to get along with. He has a strong moral conscience and wants to do right by the world. Bernard is very loyal and doesn’t easily betray his own.
